LAST Wednesday the women at the Blue Lake Golf Club teed off in slight foggy conditions which quickly gave way to warm sunny weather.

The fourth round of the Summer Cup, sponsored by the Ary Bar and Bistro, was played in stableford format with the third round still having to be rescheduled due to a recent heat policy cancellation.

The scores were indicative of some challenging pin placements and a long course set-up.

Jaynee Oberer off a 28 handicap was the winner in division one signing for 35 points with splits of 16/19 that included a four-pointer on the 10th hole along with two three-pointers.

Karen Panagopoulos (22) was the runner-up with 34 points scoring even nines of 17/17 with three-point pars on the 4th, 11th, 15th and 16th holes and a three-pointer on the par four 7th.

Third on the podium was Helen Myers (18) with a respectable 33 points from splits of 15/18 with pars recorded on the 9th and 14th holes.

Division Two players did struggle to gather high scores highlighting the course challenges and it was Trudy-Anne Doyle (39) placing first accruing 30 points after a countback with Vivienne Wilson.

Doyle had splits of 16/14 that included seven three-pointers. Wilson (32) had four three-pointers in her 30 points with splits of 18/12.

Third placegetter was Johanna Gogan (37) scoring 29 points with five three-pointers in her splits 11/18.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 16th hole winners were Dianne Perryman (1.90) and Lee Anderson (3mts).

The pro-shot winner on the 5th was Geraldine Scott (2.66) and a chip-in ferret was recorded by Janine Dunn on the 14th.

MARCH 8 RESULTS

Nineteen women played in a stableford competition in once again extremely hot conditions and it was Wendy Burley showing the way taking top spot signing for 38 points, two strokes under her handicap.

Burley is off a 44 handicap and used her extra strokes wisely especially on the outward nine scoring 21 points that included a four pointer from a par on the 2nd and five three-pointers in the inward score of 17 points.

Runner up was Jayne Galpin (22) with 35 points after pars on the 13th and 14th as well as another three three-pointers in her splits of 17/18.

Third was Carol Downing (39) after a countback with fourth and fifth placegetters Rosemary Martland and Kate Brown all recording 34 points.

Downing had splits of 17/17 that included five three-pointers. 6th place was Alison Mullan 33 points.

MARY CUDMORE BOWL

Recently the team of Ronda Edwards, Helen Myers and Lee-Anne Medhurst were the winners of the prestigious Mary Cudmore Bowl at Naracoorte with an accumulative stableford score of 96 points.

Myers with her individual 38 points was the overall winner in B Grade.
