Varcoe team defends title

THE Millicent Bowls Club held their annual Men’s Championship Fours at the weekend, with all games starting at 8.30am.

The games leading up to the grand final were all played over 12 ends with the grand final played over 15 ends.

Working their way into the grand final were the teams of Peter Varcoe, Malcolm Wright, Steve Skeer and Frank Cooper competing against Peter Scanlon, John Buhlmann, Peter Dunnicliff and Chris Earl.

By the 5th end the score was sitting at the Scanlon team five shots to the Varcoe team with two shots by the 9th end the Scanlon team were 14 shots to the Varcoe team still sitting on two shots.

But then things changed with the Varcoe team winning the next six ends and at the completion of the 15th end both teams were 14 shots each which meant there had the be an extra end played.

The Varcoe team won this end by two shots giving them back to back title of Champion Fours team for 2025/26 Season.
