Be entertained while giving back

THE Bendigo Evening VIEW Club will host its next movie night fundraiser on Thursday 15 August.

Money raised through the screening of 2023 comedy/drama Ezra will go towards the Smith Family’s Learning for Life program, which provides students with financial, educational and personal support.

The event will be held at the Star Cinema in Eaglehawk from 7pm.

The Bendigo Evening VIEW Club is a social women’s group which also offers financial support to Learning for Life. They currently sponsor 16 students to ensure they have the school supplies and opportunities they need.

“We have all been hit by the rising cost of living, be it power prices, food or petrol,”said Bendigo Evening VIEW Club president Sue Middleton

“But these rises have had an even greater impact on those already doing it tough. Parents shouldn’t have to choose between putting dinner on the table or buying their child a uniform for school. “This is why it is so important that we can help children experiencing disadvantage with their education.”

The branch is part of a nationwide network of 300 VIEW clubs connecting women and helping communities. VIEW stands for Voice, Interests and Education of Women.

More than 14,000 women are involved in the network, which offers a space for women to get together, enjoy social activities and develop friendships.

Ezra stars Bobby Cannavale, Robert De Niro and Rose Byrne. It is about stand-up comic Max Bernal and his 11-year-old autistic son Ezra, who set off on a road trip in a portrait of a family figuring out how to understand one another.
