Ditching the 12-hour day to make a more positive impact.

After spending the first 10 years of her career advising big businesses on how to grow as a senior strategy manager at a global consulting firm, Sarah decided it was time for a sea change.

She could see her future mapped out before her as part of this big company, this would be a lucrative future, but one where life would be 12-hour days, time away from home, and a high-stress environment.

None of these were appealing based on the way Sarah wanted to live her life.

She decided to take a break from work to give herself the time and head space to think about what was next.

It was a big move to make, especially given she had no specific idea in mind, just an inkling that there was something better out there.

Sarah saw a gap in the Australian market for top-level, accessible aesthetic services and founded Unique Laser Clinics, which in 2022 was rebranded to Australian Skin Clinics.

She originally opened her first clinic 10 years ago, and is now the franchise owner of Australian Skin Clinics located in Westfield Geelong, Ballarat and Torquay.

“My real motivation for the change was wanting to empower other women to take their lives and their futures into their own hands,” Sarah said.

“100 per cent of our staff are women and I am committed to creating exciting career pathways for women from all backgrounds and life situations.”

Sarah said they offer education pathways, incentives and flexible working, attracting and motivating the best people, meaning they can deliver excellent outcomes for clients.

“We also welcome a diverse range of clients of all genders and ages to help them embrace their own skin.

“We take the time to listen to their concerns and tailor treatment plans to ensure we help them achieve the skin results they are after, it is truly wonderful to see the positive impact we can make in people’s lives.”

Sarah has a thriving home garden, and the change has allowed her to embrace her childhood passion for horse riding.

She loves that owning her own business means that she can set her own schedule.

“It’s a huge amount of work and it can be hard to take a day off, but I don’t have to work 9-5.

“I might get up and go for a horse ride, work for a few hours, then take my dog for a walk in the evening.”
