Fashion fundraiser shines in 25th year
MORE than $16,500 has been raised for the Kensekka community in Uganda at St Joseph’s College Geelong’s 25th annual Parent Network Fashion Dinner.
The fashion fundraising event saw more than 200 guests enjoy a live fashion show and dinner at Mt Duneed Estate, with all proceeds supporting a series of projects being delivered at the St Joseph’s Vocational Secondary School in Kensekka in Uganda.
Local design houses including Eyewear on Pako, Pearls and Roses Bridal, Ghanda, Elm Lifestyle, The Luxe Closet and Ena Pelly had their top products under lights.
St Joseph’s Geelong director of community and development Kristen Gleeson said the 25th anniversary of the event far exceeded expectations.
“The event went really well, 220 guests and many who have been coming along for a number of years, and a lot of new guests, it was great to see so many of our Year 7 parents attending for the first time,” he said.
“The donations from the local community for our auctions and raffle make a huge difference to the funds raised, and the Parent Network group couldn’t raise what they do without this support.
“The SJC Parent Network really appreciate the support of all those who donated and attend, but most of all the important funds raised for the Kensekka community, which makes a huge difference to them.”
Mr Gleeson thanked presenting partners Gartland and The Ponds for their ongoing support of the night.
The fundraising event has now raised in excess of $300,000 for the Kensekka community over the past 25 years.
