Fearless women short film extravaganza
THE amazing feats of female adventurers from different cultures and sports around the world will be presented at the Women’s Adventure Film Tour 2024 at Eaglehawk’s Star Cinema on Wednesday 23 October.
Films will include a showcase of the sledding sport of skeleton, a story of one woman’s multi-year cycling journey through five continents and 28 countries, the fascinating tale of an Egyptian professional kiteboarder, as well as a spotlight on rock climber Brooke Carten.
Bendigo Cycles’ Jo Lythgo, who’ll be hosting the event, said the seven short movies that make up the travelling show will offer something of interest for everyone.
“I tend to not look too much at the blurbs ahead of the films because I like to be surprised,” she said.
“I always know from past years that there’s been something for me that I’ve thought ‘Oh, wow, that looks really interesting. I would love to do that’.
“It gives you the inspiration to do something a little bit crazy and a little bit off the cuff I guess, and it’s nice to see what women are actually doing out there in the world.
“It’s a great night out for anybody that’s interested in different kinds of activities away from the normal tennis, cricket, soccer, and the cinematography is always amazing.”
The Women’s Adventure Film Tour 2024 will be shown at the Star Cinema on Wednesday 23 October from 7pm and runs for around two hours.
Tickets to the event can be purchased via the Veezi website.
