Look good and feel good with SMP
Coastline SMP wants to help men and women regain their confidence.
The warehouse-style studio in Portarlington has been operating for a year, and specialises in scalp micropigmentation (SMP) – also known as hair tattoos – the leading non-surgical hair loss solution for men and women.
Kasia Lopez said her studio used only the best quality needles and the best quality vegan ink specifically formulated for the scalp.
“When I first got into this industry, I had no idea at the impact it would have on my life.
Before I knew, I became obsessed with getting the absolute best results, trying new techniques and studying my craft.
“With time, most tattoos lose their vibrancy and tend to spread under the skin and some even change colour.
With SMP, product quality was important to me above anything else to ensure the type of ink stands the test of time and doesn’t end up looking green or blue.
“We are delivering stunning results for people who are experiencing hair loss.”
She said local education and exposure about Coastline SMP’s services had been the biggest challenge “as it’s still such a taboo topic for most people”.
“Hair loss doesn’t discriminate and affects more people than we realise.
“Ultimately, if you look good, you feel good.
“Women have embraced cosmetic enhancements to their appearance and it’s time that men did too. There’s nothing shameful about seeking help to an issue that’s been bothering you.
“My goal is to make hair loss the thing of the past.
“Ultimately if it’s not holding on to you, don’t hold on to it – come to Coastline SMP and embrace the new you.”
She said a large number of people who contacted Coastline SMP were looking for a hair transplant.
“They come to us if they’re not a candidate for a hair transplant, it’s too expensive, or they don’t feel comfortable with ongoing oral treatment required to sustain hair growth.
“We also support people through their hair transplant journey as they can get scalp micropigmentation before getting a hair transplant as it doesn’t affect the procedure, whilst they are waiting for hair to grow.
They can also get SMP after a hair transplant to fill out any areas that have not reached the required level of density and to camouflage surgery scars.”
In an SMP treatment, hair follicles are re-created via an ultra-realistic and permanent cosmetic tattooing method that is used to treat:
- Thinning hair
- Receding hairline
- Alopecia coverage, and
- Scar camouflage.
“Along with our business theme of skin micropigmentation, we added the additional service of fineline tattoos,” Kasia said.
“As soon as we put a post up on Facebook and Instagram we were flooded with enquiries and bookings.”
As a local family business, Coastline SMP treats each customer as family.
Each treatment takes between two and four sessions, each lasting a few hours to complete, and Kasia said Coastline SMP wanted them to feel comfortable throughout their journey.
“To further assist our customers we offer interest free payment plans, making SMP affordable and attainable for all who need it.
“The biggest reward comes from satisfied clients who after years of hiding behind hats and wig systems can confidently step out into the world.”
