Charlemont
Emma Sinclair
Occupation: Project Management & Community Engagement.
Resides: Charlemont.
How long have you lived in your ward? I have lived in Charlemont since May 2021. I grew up in Belmont, where my family still resides.
Community involvement: I work in community health, where I design and implement Lived Experience programs for people dealing with trauma and mental health challenges. My volunteer efforts include working at a drop-in centre for rough sleepers.
Associated with a political party or movement?
Independent, not a member of any political party. Previously a member of Reason and have participated in several social campaigns as an individual.
Campaign budget? Receiving financial assistance? About $2,500. Mostly self-funded, with small donations from family and friends.
Three most important issues in your ward?
1. Supporting families hit hard by interest rate rises: I will advocate for a community childcare centre in Armstrong Creek. 2. Sensible roadworks: I’ll push for better planning and co-ordination of local and state roadworks. 3. Community culture: I’ll support small businesses to compete with the big chains, create grants for local arts, pop-up markets, and protect vital community assets.
