General Competition Terms

The competition is open to residents of Australia aged 18 years or over, except employees of Times News Group, their close relatives, and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.

There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition. By entering, participants may be subscribed to receive email communications from their local Times News Group publication unless the competition is run purely through social media.

By entering this competition, an entrant indicates their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Only one entry per person will be accepted unless otherwise stated. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.

The closing date for entries will be outlined on the website or relevant social media post. After this date, no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

The promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not received for any reason.

Entry Requirements

Entrants must subscribe to one of the local Times News Group publications via https://surfcoasttimes.com.au, unless otherwise stated.

If the competition is run purely on social media, the instructions on how to enter will be displayed on the relevant social media channel.

Changes to Competition

The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of circumstances outside the promoter’s control. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • catastrophe

  • war

  • civil or military disturbance

  • act of God

  • breach of law or regulation

Any changes to the competition will be communicated to entrants as soon as possible.

Prize Conditions

The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied by any third party connected with the competition.

The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. Prizes are subject to availability and Times News Group reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without notice.

Winner Selection and Notification

Winners will be chosen:

  • At random by software if entry occurs via an online subscription method, or

  • Using random selection software for competitions run on social media.

The winner will be notified by email and/or Facebook within three days of the closing date.

If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, Times News Group reserves the right to withdraw the prize and select a replacement winner.

The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected or delivered.

Final Decisions

The promoter’s decision regarding all matters relating to the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Legal and Privacy

The competition and these terms and conditions are governed by Australian law, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.

The winner agrees to the use of their name and image in publicity material, as well as their entry.

Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with Australian data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s consent.

Entry into the competition will be deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Twitter or any other social network. Entrants provide their information to Times News Group, not to any social media platform.

Times News Group’s decision regarding eligibility and selection of winners is final, and no correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.

Times News Group reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change or modify these terms and conditions at any time, with changes taking effect immediately upon posting on this webpage.

Times News Group also reserves the right to cancel the competition if circumstances arise outside of its control.

Competition Terms

Competition Overview

Each round of the AFL Home and Away season, entrants are invited to predict the winner and margin of the nominated match.

The selected match will typically feature the Geelong Cats, unless the club has a bye during that round.

How to Enter

Participants must:

  • Comment on the official Surf Coast Times Facebook competition post with their predicted winner and margin.

  • Example: Geelong 17

  • Like the Surf Coast Times Facebook page to be eligible.

Entry Deadline

Entries close at the scheduled start time of the nominated AFL match, as listed in the weekly competition post.

Winner Selection

The winner will be randomly drawn from all correct entries that correctly predict the winning team and margin.

The draw will normally take place Monday at 10am following the match.

If a public holiday falls on the Monday, the draw will occur Tuesday at 10am.

Jackpot Clause

If no entrant correctly predicts the winner and margin, the prize will jackpot to the following round.

Prize

The weekly prize is a:

KFC Family Feast Voucher valued at $37.95

Voucher conditions:

  • Valid only at participating KFC restaurants across Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast.

  • Voucher redemption is subject to KFC terms and conditions.

Winner Notification

The winner will be contacted directly via Facebook message from the official Surf Coast Times page to arrange the prize.

Surf Coast Times will never request credit card or bank details, nor send links requesting financial information.
