Results are in from the Geelong & Surf Coast Wedding Industry Awards 2022
STANDOUT businesses from across the region were honoured at the Geelong and Surf Coast Wedding Industry Awards 2022 (WIA) virtual presentation dinner.
Newlywed couples married in the past 18 months vote for vendors in categories across more than 30 wedding regions of Australia.
Business manager Deb Nash of the Geelong catering and events specialist company Truffleduck said they were honoured to be have been voted in by newlywed couples as the region’s best wedding caterer.
“We are proud that our couples recognise the emphasis we put on ensuring that they receive the exceptional food and service Truffleduck is renowned for across its 34-year journey,” she said.
“Looking forward to continuing this into the next wedding season, which is shaping up to be again extremely busy as we hopefully move past the COVID interruptions we have battled over the past two years.”
In the same category, Pete’s Woodfired Pizza in Barwon Heads and Soft Catering Geelong came second and third respectively.
“It’s fantastic, it’s such an honour and it’s nice to know that we’ve been recognised as a humble little pizza service that makes people happy at weddings,” Pete Kaye from Pete’s Woodfired Pizza said.
Pete said before the awards night he was already over the moon to make the top 100 out of more than 500 businesses.
“At, the awards night they announced I was in the top 10 and I was like ‘wow, you’ve got to be joking’ and then they announced that I came second, and I couldn’t believe it,” Pete said.
Pete said he is very also proud to use a lot of local products from the Bellarine and Surf Coast regions, and it makes a difference to the pizza.
“I am very proud of people that help me and I’m very proud that we’ve got a good service,” he said.
“If it wasn’t for those local products it wouldn’t be such good pizza, it makes a difference.”
