GEELONG Business Excellence Awards’ (GBEA) 2023 Hall of Fame member Crew Faced Makeup Artistry continues to offer an inclusive platform in the creative industry that is award winning and sustainably creative.

Operating from her own customized and professional studio in Lara, business owner Jessica Anderson and her team of eight continue to reap the benefits of their win of the 2022 Home-based and Micro Business Award, sponsored by the City of Greater Geelong, win.

As a privately-owned business that was largely affected by COVID restrictions, Crew Faced Makeup Artistry was cited at the awards for its ability to offer varied and flexible employment opportunities for all, no matter their circumstances.

In response to the pandemic, the team offered unique mentorship development, VCAL programs, work experience and traineeships that grew the team organically.

They also accommodated appointments seven days a week and begun facilitating a mobile service throughout Victoria to access people with travelling limitations.

Mrs Anderson said making changes to her business in response to the pandemic was her proudest achievement and something that no doubt caught the judges attention in the 2022 Geelong Business Excellence Awards (GBEA).

“Winning the Award for ‘Home Based & Micro Business’ really solidified not what we are doing, but how we are doing it,” Mrs Anderson said.

“Owning a sustainable business from home with a small team that remains agile to the current climate & being extremely accessible to the community is the heartbeat of our culture.

“The awards have helped my business immensely by offering significant recognition and celebration of its achievements.

“Joining the monthly Geelong Chamber of Commerce After 5 events has been a wonderful opportunity and helped to reinforce relationships, establish prospective clients and provided us with endless opportunities.”

By entering the awards in each of the past five years, Mrs Anderson said that were many benefits that businesses could get out of putting their name out there.

“We’ve certainly gained valuable feedback from the judges to implement to the business, in turn supporting our strategy for the near future with confidence.

“By entering the GBEA Awards, businesses and their leaders will benefit from analysing current practices, performance and achievements.

“It also allows businesses to plan a road map moving forward, celebrate their team successes, or pivot to support a system or policy with a new strategy.”

Alongside Crew Faced Makeup Artistry being inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame, Mrs Anderson will be joining the Awards as a Judge for 2023/24.

She looks forward to meeting other business leaders entering the awards and recognising, supporting and promoting businesses and their leaders who strive to be exceptional.
