AN acclaimed musical will take attendees back in time to 1946 and shine a spotlight on the resilience, hope and joy of post-war Australia.

The Sunshine Club will play at the Potato Shed on May 22 and explore the enduring power of community and the desire for a brighter future.

Written and directed by proud Noonuccal Nuugi man Wesley Enoch AM, The Sunshine Club follows the journey of Aboriginal solider Frank Doyle who returns home from World War II to a city where prejudice and discrimination loom large.

Unphased and undeterred, Mr Doyle is determined to create positive change by establishing a club where people from all walks of life can come laugh, love and dance.

The production boasts a talented cast of 11 members, including emerging and established First Nations artists and a five-piece live band.

The energetic and engaging score for the musical will feature 28 original songs composed by John Rodgers.

The Australian has heralded the show as a “brilliant new landmark in Australian musicals” and “an unashamedly feel-good music.”

The show will take place over two shows only, 11am and 7:30pm.

For tickets, head to the Potato Shed website or call 5251 1998.
