Audio books the solution for time poor

February 28, 2018 BY

Geelong Regional Libraries has an extensive eCollection of eBooks, magazines and periodicals, current and historical newspapers, free to library members to listen to.

In this frantic busy back-to-school world, multi-tasking has become a necessity for anyone wishing to achieve that elusive work-life balance.

Multi-tasking has become a part of every day, and chances are the precious “me” time of sitting down with a cup of tea, and a good book is but a distant memory.

Audio books and podcasts are a fantastic solution for those who are too time poor to indulge in reading for pleasure or who always seem to miss hearing the end of that radio interview or favourite program.

Simply download to a device, put on earphones and escape into a book or podcast. Now the time spent travelling in the car, on the treadmill, or cleaning the house can be spent simultaneously enriching the mind and soul by listening to something enjoyable.

Geelong Regional Libraries’ eCollection is more extensive than most can imagine.

eBooks, magazines and periodicals, current and historical newspapers, and much more is all free and at library visitors’ fingertips.

Audio books are available to borrow on CD or download onto home computers, laptops, smartphone or tablet. All eCollection items are free for library members. When an eBook loan expires it will conveniently disappear from the device, or can be renewed online, while eMagazines can be viewed on a device for as long as it’s needed.

Geelong Regional Libraries regularly runs free technology training sessions.

These ‘eKnow How’ sessions are conducted by specialist staff members who will help members get set up, learn about apps and start utilising the many free services offered at the local library.

eKnow How sessions such as eBooks on Your Tablet and What’s New? eMagazines? RBdigital will show members how to access all the free eCollections available and are designed to cater for absolute beginners to those with some knowledge.
