Aussie icon skips into Pivotonian

Surf Coast Animal Rescue (SCARS) are hosting the movie Kangaroo:  A Love-Hate Story at the Pivotonian Cinema April 27.

This ground breaking film explores Australia’s love-hate relationship with its beloved icon whose imagery is often used by companies, sports teams and tourist souvenirs yet is widely regarded as a pest, shot and sold for profit.The film produced, directed and written by Kate McIntyre Clere and cinematographer Mick McIntyre will be shown at the Moorabool and Verner Street cinema- alongside special guest speakers and renowned wildlife carers Ron and Carola Anstsis and a question and answer to follow.SCARS is a grassroots network of local people who volunteer their time to help animals in need and organised the evening inclusive of vegan food, popcorn and soy milk for hot drinks.The film which has received rave reviews from the New York Times, ‘The filmmakers are determined to sound a wake-up siren, and they blast it with extra strength,’ and Variety, ‘
