Melbourne punk rockers Bodyjar will make the trip down the highway to let its energy run rampant on the Surf Coast.

The four-piece band will be playing the Torquay Hotel on November 1 as part of a bumper Melbourne Cup weekend lineup.

Known for its high-energy stage presence and loud instruments, Bodyjar has become one of the most respected punk rock outfits in the world.

The band has played sell-outs shows all over the planet, earning praise from fans in Japan, America, Korea, Europe and of course Australia.

Closer to home, Bodyjar has played Falls Festival on several occasions, Meredith Music Festival twice, and more recently a a memorable show at Torquay SLSC in April 2022.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Cameron Baines said he couldn’t wait to get down to Torquay to rock out again.

“We’ve always had a great connection to the area! Tommy our guitarist used to live down in Torquay and we used to jam heaps and write songs.

“I’ve been to the Torquay Hotel plenty of times, and it feels like it’s the right sort of pub for us.

“I’m sure the timing too with a long weekend, the pub will be rocking.”

Baines said the old bangers from Take a Look Inside and Rimshot, and some recent material from its 2022 album New Rituals were on the menu for November 1.

“The set will consist of plenty of our old stuff from the early Taylor Steele surf videos and bodyboarding videos, which crew will definitely be familiar with.

“Those hits from Windsock, No Touch Red, Rimshot. It’ll help to get the party going!

“We will also get a few of the newer ones in. It’s going to be epic.”

Baines, who owns a skate shop in Melbourne’s CBD, said he was also likely to head to the local skate parks during his visit.

“There’s two really good ones in town which we are sure to hit. There are also some crackers on the way down, too.”

Local bands The Spit, Dirty Wasabi and DURRT will support Bodyjar at the Torquay gig.
