Catch the Cash tribute show at 360Q
A TRIBUTE show honouring the lives and music of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash is headed for the stage at 360Q Queenscliff this month.
The release of autobiographical film Walk the Line in 2006 saw the world fall back in love with the sounds of Johnny’s acclaimed country style.
While the narrative highlighted many of the accolades that came as a result of his music, it also depicted the dark moments of his childhood and the pitfalls of his success.
Californian-born singer Christina DeRoche said it was the film that inspired her to create a tribute show alongside Melbourne-based musician Alan Bowles.
“The release of Walk the Line was the catalyst for our show, and it gave it legs. It is the timeless nature of the great music that appeals to people of all ages that come along to our two 50-minute sets that include about 36 songs,” she said.
“It is a joy to play the songs people know so well. They love the music that the world-famous Johnny Cash and June Carter created. Legendary songs by this duet contained the mean wit and heartbreaking sincerity that resonated with their massive number of fans worldwide.”
DeRoche, who has resided in Australia for many years, performs the role of June while Bowles portrays Johnny. The duet will be supported by a three-piece backing band.
Alan, a two-time national harmonica player, will add some unexpected magic to the show.
The Walkin’ the Line tribute show will grace audiences at 360Q Queenscliff on Saturday August 24.
Tickets are $120 per person and includes a three-course dinner as well as a drinks package of wine, beer and soft drink. Book your tickets at trybooking.com.
