Council requests amendments to Aireys plan

March 31, 2016 BY

THE Surf Coast Shire is seeking authorisation to exhibit a proposal to bring planning policies affecting Aireys Inlet to Eastern View into line with a structure plan.
The Aireys Inlet-Eastern View Structure Plan was adopted in November 2015, following input from more than 600 people.
The plan sets a direction for land use in the area over the next 20 years and focuses on preserving the area’s natural beauty, environmental assets and coastal village character.
The council has made slight changes to planning policies in the area through a planning scheme amendment covering the Aireys Inlet to Eastern View strategy in the Surf Coast Planning Scheme and relevant design and neighbourhood character policies.
If Planning Minister Richard Wynne authorises the exhibition of proposed Amendment C110, it will be released for public comment.
Anglesea Ward councillor Libby Coker said the proposed planning scheme amendment was part of implementing plans developed with extensive community input.
“The Aireys Inlet-Eastern View Planning the Future exercise last year generated some great feedback from a really engaged community, and this this has been this has been reflected in the structure plan. “Part of putting the structure plan into practice is making changes to the planning scheme that will govern how planning applications in the area are assessed, and council is now proposing to do this through a planning scheme amendment.
“This step demonstrates to the community that the plan will not simply sit on a shelf.”
