Creative journey ON SHOW AT SURF COAST ART SPACE
A new exhibition titled Art Journal is on show at Anglesea’s Surf Coast Art Space, featuring artworks created in a range of art mediums as well as art journals from emerging art therapy students.
Organised by practicing artist and art therapist Caz Artsea, the exhibition features Caz’s works alongside her clients’ art journals which detail the creative process.
The journals provide a personal insight into the artist’s thoughts and ideas through pages of illustrations, brainstorming, visual journaling and writing.
“It (Art Journal) displays a unique perspective of artmaking… the inside of the creative process through the artist’s journal. The artwork as a result is incredibly expressive and soulful,” she said.
Caz, who has been hosting classes and workshops on the Surf Coast for expressive art for about five years, said she coaches
and facilitates clients who wish to explore through creativity.
“As a practicing artist, I am drawn to nature as inspiration and my work is imbued with symbology, inspiring custodianship of the earth in my audience,” she said.
“Artmaking is a form of expression, available to everyone.
It is an opportunity to be in stillness, to explore our inner world and to gain insight and wisdom to enhance our quality of life.”
The local artist also said the exhibition allows the viewer to witness the progression of the artist’s symbols, themes and inspirations.
“This exhibition is a showcase of the unfolding creative process, rather than the outcome or finished product,” Caz said.
Art Journal will be on display at Surf Coast Art Space (2/103 Great Ocean Road, Anglesea) until this Sunday June 30. For news and updates, head to facebook.com/SurfCoastArtSpace. To access more information on Caz’s classes, visit cazartsea.com.
