February 12, 2016 BY

A DANCING in the Dark event will bring the local community together for a vibrant and active evening of music and liberated movement.

In correspondence with Earth Hour, this allages event provides access to members of the community who are interested in supporting their own physical and mental wellbeing.

Dancing in the Dark is an inclusive, nonprejudice, alcohol and drug-free event on Saturday March 19 aimed at anyone of any age in the local community.

Dancing in the Dark artistic director Candice Canning said the event would attract a cross-generational crowd which would forge strong intergenerational links.

“For individuals, these outcomes include increases in self-worth, less loneliness and isolation, new connections and friendships, academic improvements and more positive perceptions of other generations.

Ms Canning said the main idea for the event was to inspire and uplift the whole community through music, dance and movement and did not require attendees to have formal training in dance.

In this way, the event is accessible to all people with all levels of dancing abilities.
