Flame trees to light up Mount Duneed: Cold Chisel to headline concert
Mount Duneed Estate has officially cemented itself as the Geelong region’s go-to entertainment destination, with the venue securing a royal line-up of performances from Australian legends Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, Birds of Tokyo and Magic Dirt this January.
In the iconic band’s first ever outdoor summer tour, Cold Chisel will play 14 shows in Australia and New Zealand across the hottest months of the year.
The Blood Moon Tour 2020 – named after a rare lunar eclipse – will see the pioneers of classic pub rock serve up some of their biggest hits including “Khe Sanh”, “Flame Trees”, “Bow River”, “My Baby”, “Cheap Wine”, “Saturday Night” and “You Got Nothing I Want” for what’s rumoured to be their “maybe last” tour ever.
Promoter of A Day on the Green, Roundhouse Entertainment – the mob responsible for locking down Sir Elton John later this year – say they’re thrilled to be behind an “exceptional summer of music” on the Surf Coast.
Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes said with the band ticking off just four tours since the early ‘80s, it was important to make the Blood Moon Tour count.
“We knew that if we were going to get the band back together for another full tour it would have to be something really special.
“We wanted great line-ups and unusual places so that people would remember these gigs for a long, long time.”
The band has also announced it will support Australian charity Foodbank throughout its summer journey, with special auction items and fundraising collections at each venue on the tour map.
Cold Chisel are putting the finishing touches on new music recorded earlier this year with Charley Drayton, and plan to release at least some of their latest songs before they hit the road.
Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, Birds of Tokyo and Magic Dirt will play at Mount Duneed Estate on January 11. One of three Victorian shows, tickets to this event will be in high demand when they go on sale on Monday, October 21 at 11am via Ticketmaster.
Pre-sale tickets for members began at 2pm yesterday (Wednesday, October 16). For more information, head to adayonthegreen.com.au.
