Geelong Revival Motoring Festival: a weekend of thrills, spills and frills

GET ready for the thunder of the engines and the thrill of lightning-fast motor racing this month.

From November 25-27, more than 1,000 vintage and modern vehicles will pay tribute to Geelong’s rich automotive history at the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival.

“We are delivering on-track entertainment like you’ve never seen at Revival before,” event director Nicholas Heath said.

With classic racing and static displays sprawled along the entire Geelong waterfront, the festival is an epic weekend of trackside action featuring exhilarating motorsport, vintage fashion, food and fun for the whole family. This iteration of the classic event is also set to include a host of new features, including thrilling stunt performances, unique new displays and exciting attractions flying overhead.

Matt Mingay and the Hot Wheels Stunt Team will be putting on show-stopping performances over the weekend. Festivalgoers will be treated to a world-class stunt show along Ritchie Boulevard to complement the historic quarter-mile sprints. The stunt team travels to major motoring events across the country and are known for their electrifying shows full of precision driving, riding and jaw-dropping stunts with performance vehicles and motorbikes.

Off the track, the Hot Wheels Truck will be on display inside The Pits, with children’s activities on offer including play tables, video games and colouring stations.

 

“We’ve expanded this year’s event a considerable amount, with a real focus on delivering attractions that the whole family can come down and enjoy.”

Up in the sky, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) will be wowing spectators with its hot air balloon on Eastern Beach and a flypast performed by the heritage 100SQN.

The event will also host an Electric Avenue, an expanded showcase of zero-emissions vehicles that are leading the charge in the Australian market.

For those less inspired by engines, the National Vintage Fashion Awards add further colour and life to the waterfront precinct. Held at 1pm each day, vintage fashionistas bring old-world glamour to the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, vying for the title of best dressed in their selected category.

The festival is a staple in the city’s event calendar and draws more than 50,000 attendees for the Quarter-Mile Sprints, Shannons Classic Motorshow, demonstrations and delicious food trucks.
