Get your action fix with Mission Impossible Number 6

August 15, 2018 BY

Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt for – what is this, the fifth? No, the sixth Mission Impossible.

In this instalment, the world is under threat when not one but three plutonium cores are stolen.

Now, it’s up to Ethan and his team to recover the cores before they are used to cause a nuclear disaster. It won’t be easy, though, with the CIA watching IMF’s every move should they slip up.

Fallout features returning characters from previous films, such as ex-MI6 agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), the soft-spoken Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and the ever funny Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg).

Even the villainous Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) from the previous film, Rogue Nation, returns. Admittedly, there were several moments where I was asking why the characters didn’t just kill him. It would’ve saved them a lot of trouble.

We also get a new antagonist in the form of Henry Cavill’s CIA assassin, August Walker. We all knew he was going to be an antagonist thanks to the film’s promotion, but I was actually surprised when it was revealed what sort of antagonist he really was.

The action scenes are where Fallout shines and it’s especially incredible knowing that a good chunk of these stunts are done with practical effects.

Be sure to watch for the most insane helicopter fight put to screen.

Amazingly, this film manages to balance the serious and the stupid fairly well.

One scene could have Ethan deliberating on whether to sacrifice a team member for the greater good.

Then later we have wrecked helicopters falling off a cliff, which the main characters miraculously survive. Somehow, it works.

In the end, I enjoyed this film more than I thought I would. It’s great if you need an action fix and you’re sure to have fun with it.
