GIN BAR FRONT AND CENTRE AT LOCAL TAPHOUSE
The popularity of gin has soared both nationally and internationally with popular distilleries like Four Pillars in the Yarra Valley and the Bellarine’s own The Whiskery drawing mass crowds.
Torquay’s Frontbeach Taphouse & Restaurant – in ode to the re-emergence of the popular spirit – is launching their own Gin Bar which owner Nick Cogger said will house the best gin available.
“The Gin Bar will launch on December 7, we’ve got a couple of distillers coming along. Russ Watson with their Teddy &
The Fox gin (from the Bellarine Distillery, The Whiskery) and Seb and Derv from Australia’s current champion gin Anther,” he said.
“They’re going to be here, so we’ll make a couple of cocktails and everyone can sample the gins. Our Gin Bar will have 25 different gins, mainly Australian crafted but international as well alongside a range of different tonics to match the gin.”
Mr Cogger said over the past two to three years the popularity of gin had soared with consumers making it one of the most popular spirits.
“It (gin) is going through that craft beer evolution, a lot of different Australian companies are setting up gin distilleries, led by Four Pillars in the Yarra Valley,” he said.
“Now Australia has some of the best gins in the world with a nautical, botanical focus the distillers are using.”
Teddy & the Fox is an aromatic blend of six botanicals, juniper, coriander, orange, lemon myrtle, orris root and star anise, which will be available to sample at the launch.
