Gypsy Music on fire in Lorne
Czech violinst Romana Geermans joins 10-string guitar player Matthew Fagan in a live show featuring a passionate, virtuosic performance of gypsy jazz, European gypsy, tango, bluegrass, Celtic reels and classical music at Qdos Arts and Sculpture Park in Lorne.
Matthew’s Celtic and flamenco compositions from his successful album Indigo Moon will also be featured on the night.
Matthew Fagan has previously delivered performances at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, National Folk Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival and Gallery of Victoria, as well as international tours across Europe and America.
Matthew has also toured with international celebrities including Natalie Cole, The Original Buena Vista Social Club, Billy Connolly, Shirley Bassey and Michael Crawford.
“I’ve been to Qdos in Lorne eight times now,” Matthew said.
“It’s a fantastic location and a very special environment to perform in. It will be a great intimate concert; I’m really looking forward to it.”
Prague national Romana Geermans has twice won the prestigious Kocian International violin competition in her early teens and was the youngest member of the renowned Czechoslovak Chamber Orchestra.
“This performance with Romana will be very different to what audiences have seen of me previously in Lorne,” Matthew said.
The performance will be held on January 19, with a dinner to be held prior to the show at 6pm.
Tickets for the show and dinner are $75, while show tickets are $25, starting at 8.15pm.
