Hoad brings cricket bat and shovel to Torquay

After headlining the Uprising Festival in Fiji last month, Jay Hoad is bringing his show to Victoria for one weekend only as part of his 2017 global tour.

Jay will be at the Torquay Hotel on Saturday, December 16 with his cricket bat and shovel guitar made from car parts, shovels and kitchen sinks.

“I’m so excited to be back in Australia, and especially excited to be back in this region, I absolutely love the vibe of the area,” Jay said.

“Right now I’m feeling so excited and inspired after spending the last six weeks performing and studying Eastern music with some of India’s and Nepal’s most well known artists.”

Fijian-born multi-instrumentalist Jay has spent the last 10 years touring with his unique show consisting of more than 17 instruments on stage.

Jay has also performed at WOMAD, Uprising Festival, Bob Marley Music Fest, Earth Frequency Festival, Musikfest, Saarang World Culture Festival, Spirit Festival, Pt Fairy Folk Festival and Big Day Out.

In 2016, his album with Chris Finnen, Off the Cuff, was named the ARBA Blues and Roots Album of the Year.

This year, Jay has wanted to tour the show through as many regional towns as possible, weaving around the entire coast of Australia from start to finish with full house shows.

“This year’s tour features so many weird and wonderful instruments, giving the fans a chance and to hear and see something cool, new and unique,” Jay said.

“I’m very excited to visit Torquay and bring the new tunes and instruments to the fans around Australia and beyond.”
