Hunt and Gather family fun in Winchelsea

THE Hunt and Gather festival is set to celebrate the best about country living when it comes to Winchelsea for the first time from March 31-April 3.
Featuring regional produce, art and agriculture, and celebrating innovation in farming, manufacturing and services, the festival kicks off with two Field Days at Barwon Park Mansion, and culminates with the family-friendly Rabbit Art Rally and River Picnic exploring the historic town.
Field Days will feature an extensive range of supplies from manufacturers, farmers, wineries food producers and family fun in Winchelsea more as well as cooking demonstrations from renowned local chefs, family entertainment and true country hospitality.
Event organiser Stuart Fountain said Hunt and Gather was a unique mix of agriculture, art and entertainment.
“This event is expected to become one of the largest annual community gatherings in the region.
“Along with the Field Days, we have a massive local auction for the Uniting Church, which is something like eBay on a cricket oval, and the Rabbit Art Rally and River Picnic, which will be a great day out for families,” he said.
The Uniting Church Auction will be on Saturday April 2 at the local cricket ground, and is available to anyone who has something to sell – turn up early to register.
The final event day includes a farmers’ market and the much-anticipated Rabbit Art Rally and River Picnic.
Participants will “hunt” around town for five large rabbit sculptures created by local artists, then “gather” for a town picnic on the Barwon River.
Hunt and Gather Winchelsea is part of the Eat Local Month food and wine festival.
