Join Australia’s biggest morning tea

April 25, 2018 BY

Gather your friends and family together as part of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and raise money for Cancer Council Victoria and their services.

EVERY cuppa counts during Cancer Council Victoria’s 25th Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

The official date for this year’s morning tea is Thursday May 24 but events can be held throughout May and June.

This year Cancer Council Victoria (CCV) is hoping to recruit 7,900 hosts with the aim of raising $3.3 million for cancer research, prevention programs and support services.

On average 153 people are diagnosed with cancer in the Surf Coast Shire every year; the funds raised through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea help provide support to them as well as their families and friends.

CCV provides several support services for people affected by cancer, including Cancer Council 13 11 20, an information and support line staffed by experienced cancer nurses.

Last year, more than 11,400 Victorians called to receive information or support, and many made use of other Cancer Council support programs.

Head of Fundraising at Cancer Council Victoria, Andrew Buchanan, said Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea hosts have had an incredible impact on cancer outcomes in 25 years.

“Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea supporters have raised more than $30 million since the event began in 1994, helping to increase Victoria’s cancer survival rates by almost 20 per cent,” he said.

“Every minute, every hour, every day someone is impacted by cancer – and with the support of the community we’re able to continue our vital work in cancer research, prevention and support services.

We invite every Surf Coast Shire resident to join thousands of others across the state hosting events in their homes, offices and schools.”

Host a Morning Tea and help make a difference for the 90 Victorians diagnosed with cancer every day.
