JOKERS FOR DAYS AT GPAC

February 12, 2016 BY

Fledgling comedians are lining up beside some of Australia’s best Indigenous comics for a weekend of giggles and gaffes at GPAC.

Catch the next generation of talent with the Geelong heat of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Raw Comedy competition on Saturday.

Raw Comedy is Australia’s biggest open mic comedy competition and has seen some of the country’s most hilarious talent filter through its ranks.

Past winners and finalists include Chris Lilley, Josh Thomas, Hannah Gadsby, Wil Anderson, Peter Helliar, Claire Hooper, Tim Minchin and Geelong’s very own comedy superstar, Jonathan Schuster.

The event’s MC will be Geraldine Hickey, a festival veteran and a regular on Australia’s club and pub circuit, and joining her as feature act will be 2015 Raw Comedy National Champion, Angus Gordon.

Raw Comedy will uncover the good, the bad and the ugly of Geelong’s comedic talent, who are competing for a spot in the national grand final and a chance to jet off to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The following night, catch the brightest Indigenous comedy stars in The Aboriginal Comedy Allstars Showcase.

The show features Matt Ford, Shiralee Hood, Kevin Kropinyeri and will introduce Dane Simpson.

Between them, they will share tales of growing up, marriage and the particular, AT GPAC absurd challenges of life as an Aboriginal Australian family man.

The Aboriginal Comedy Allstars Showcase is a cheeky, playful, irreverent and hilarious, performance promising big belly laughs.

Raw Comedy is on Saturday February 13 at 7.30pm tickets are $25.

Aboriginal Comedy Allstars will be performing on Sunday February 14 at 7.30pm, tickets are $35 or $30 for concession-card holders, students and groups of four or more.
