Kingswood carry on
Melbourne’s Kingswood are down a member, but it won’t stop them from putting on one of their trademark rollicking shows at the Torquay Hotel on Sunday.
Fergus Linacre, Alex Laska, and Justin Debrincat are moving forward after the amicable departure of bassist Jeremy “Mango” Hunter.
In a statement on their Facebook page they wrote, “…Mango and Kingswood have parted ways.
He is a tremendous man and we will cherish the many wonderful experiences and memories we have shared together. We wish him the best with all future endeavours.”
Undoubtedly one of Australia’s most exciting modern rock acts, Kingswood are fresh from supporting AC/DC on their recent national tour.
Vocalist and guitarist Laska said the feeling of playing with their heroes was impossible to describe.
“There isn’t really much one can say about touring with ACDC, childhood dreams being realised generally results in a loss for words.”
The band has performed at numerous festivals including Splendour in the Grass, Big Day Out, Groovin’ The Moo and Falls Festival.
In 2014, they returned from Nashville after recording their debut album with Grammy Awardwinning producer Vance Powell (Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, The Raconteurs).
That album, Microscopic Wars, had a top 10 debut in the national ARIA charts and went on to receive an ARIA Nomination for Best Rock Album.
Their Torquay show is one of their last before going in to record their new album, slated for release around the middle of this year.
Kingswood will perform at Torquay Hotel on Sunday March 27, with doors opening at 8pm.
Tickets are $28.60 including booking fee and can be purchased at oztix.com.au, with any remaining tickets available on the door.
