THE comedy scene in Geelong is heating up as Laughs and Lagers returns to Blackman’s Brewery in Grovedale this Sunday, August 3.
Presented by Geelong booking agency What’s the Joke Comedy, this weekend’s event will be headlined by comedian Lizzy Hoo.
What’s the Joke Comedy owner John Watts said Hoo is a popular act in the comedy scene.
“She’s known for her appearances on Just for Laughs on Channel 10, she’s a regular on there, she’s done the Oxfam Comedy Gala a couple of times, and she had a run of sell-out shows at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.”
The comedian has also appeared on The Cheap Seats, Question Everything and the Weekly.

Her material stems from her life, delivering a performance that often leaves audiences wanting more, with her observational-style resonating with many.
Supporting Hoo for the evening are Melbourne comedians from the Budgy Smugglers Podcast Jeremy Dooley and Steven Bradshaw who have both performed to sold out crowds this year.
Dooley is a rising star on the comedy scene and performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival this year, with a show focused around having a newborn and terrible advice.
Bradshaw has also performed at the Melbourne Comedy Festival this year with a string of sellout shows and took home the best new talent award in the Geelong Comedy Festival.
Watts said the comedy events at Blackman’s are always a fun day, with everyone getting into it.

“It’s a good vibe at that venue and we’ve brought some pretty big quality acts there over the years.
“Everyone these days needs a bit of a laugh, we’re always talking about doom and gloom a lot of the time, so it’s great to get people out laughing and having a great time.”
The show will kick off at 5pm with wood fired pizzas available throughout the evening.
