June 27, 2019 BY

Luke Hindson (Torquay Hotel) has been selected to participate in this year’s Live Music Professionals program, which begins early next month.

Music Victoria has announced the successful applicants for its 2019 Live Music Professionals program, which will see participants paired with some of the state’s most accomplished and experienced industry professionals.

Open to venue owners and managers, band bookers and independent promoters, the professional business development program offers one-on-one coaching sessions, specialised workshops, masterclasses, conferences, and networking opportunities.

Torquay’s Luke Hindson (Torquay Hotel) and Aireys Inlet’s David Corbet (The Sound Doctor Presents) were among the 20 applicants selected to join this year’s program.

The program model has been designed to equip small to medium sized live music businesses in Victoria the skills required to achieve success.

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley said the program is a “world first”.

“Live Music Professionals is part of our landmark Music Works initiative, an investment that is strengthening Victoria’s music industry at all levels,” Mr Foley said.

“Developed in collaboration with the industry, Live Music Professionals is investing directly in the professional development of venue owners, managers and bookers and independent promoters.”

This year’s program kicks off on July 2 with a live music conference featuring guest speakers Brian Taranto (Love Police), Justin Rudge (Public Bookings), Simon Daly (Falls Festival) and representatives from Green Music Australia, the Australian Venues Association and Australian Festivals Association.

Eventbrite’s Chris McDonnell will present The Eventbrite 2019 Australian Music Fans Report, while Liz Wright and Katherine Marshall (Bandmates Victoria) will provide training around inclusion, disability, and the diversity of audiences.

Karen Ingram from Access All Areas will also educate participants on the importance of gender equity, diversity and safety in the music industry.
