Lorne Music Fest gets rolling
The inaugural Lorne May Music Festival (LMMF) that took place across the May 4-6 weekend was a massive success according to Lorne Hotel’s Paul Upham.
Mr Upham said the initiative – to create an event that enticed visitors to the picturesque seaside town outside the summer months – drew decent crowds with the free ticket deal.
“It went really well and we were really happy with the turn out. The feedback from the event was fantastic, Friday night with the Kelly Auty Band at Cumberland Lorne had about 85 people attend,” Mr Upham said.
“Saturday we had Bec Goring at The Riverbank Café and it had an amazing vibe so much so the owners are now looking to drive more live music through their venue.
“The guys at the Grand Pacific were also really good and there was a great vibe happening around there, it was a lovely Saturday afternoon for everyone sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and listening to music outside.”
The Lorne Hotel in conjunction with the Cumberland Lorne and Grand Pacific Hotel had a special offer running over the weekend where guests who booked two night’s accommodation received two free tickets to all the LMMF’s events.
“It’s something we want to continue with, we had such a good response, people used it as an opportunity to get away and took advantage of the two-night accommodation package with free entry to the music festival deal,” he said.
“It showed us enough to keep going, the nice part about it was we had a lot of people going to all the free events, they enjoyed making a weekend of it and said to make sure we persist with making it an annual event.”
