ONE of Australia’s favourite comedians from across the ditch, Melanie Bracewell, is returning to Geelong with her new show Dilly Dallying.

The 10 July performance explores turning 30, procrastination and the pressure of life’s expected milestones.”It’ll be a good time, that’s for sure,” she said. “It’s all about hitting 30 and everyone telling you to hurry up with a few things – marriage, kids and so on.

“It’s really about the push and pull of life and what people want you to do, protested against your wants and needs.”

Bracewell began her career in New Zealand before becoming a familiar face to Australian audiences on Have You Been Paying Attention?.

She relocated permanently in 2021 to co-host The Cheap Seats, while also performing internationally at festivals and clubs in Montreal, New York and Los Angeles.

Returning to Geelong for the second straight year, Bracewell said the city had become one of her favourite regional stops.

“It’s so underrated in Geelong, I absolutely love it there, and have some close friends who live in town,” Bracewell said.

“I’ve popped in a few times, and it reminds me of New Zealand with its sleepy seaside vibe. Same goes with the Surf Coast; the Great Ocean Road is beautiful.”

Although Bracewell will miss a few netball games while in Geelong, she admitted the “tour life” was calling and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It’s going to be so nice to bring the comedy to regional Victoria rather than everyone going to Melbourne,” she said.

“I always set a really high bar for my shows and I’m always striving to have something different in every show.

“This is one of my personal ones.

“For those who want the ins and outs of Melanie Bracewell’s private life, then this is the way to go. Come on board!”
