May 16, 2018 BY

Born into a family of performers, Vaudevillian Mic Conway has spent 50 years entertaining and is celebrating with a 50th anniversary show that arrives at the Torquay Bowls Club on May 26.

Mic Conway has spent half a century on stage bringing laughter to the masses and to celebrate, the ARIA award winner is bringing his 50th anniversary show to Torquay Bowls Club.

Vaudevillian Mic is a singer, songwriter, fire-eater, magician, tap dancer, juggler and comedian, as well as being a multi-instrumentalist and will bring his larger than
life show to the coast on May 26.

Music, mayhem, juggling, fire and mirth are thrown together to create a one of a kind must-see entertainment experience.

Conway’s music, magic and comedy show features hilarious and quirky tunes that make jaws drop, toes tap and sides split including some Captain Matchbox favourites like “My Canary Has Circles Under His Eyes” as well as a swag of Conway including “Jug Band Man”.

Born into a family of vaudevillians and opera singers, Conway’s life as an entertainer began in the 1970s as lead singer in Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band which became a cult phenomenon, recording seven records, two of which achieved gold status.

A favourite at folk and blues festivals, in 2011 Conway was awarded Artist of the Year by Port Fairy Folk Festival.

Mic will be accompanied in his show by internationally acclaimed all round 10 string Spanish guitarist Matthew Fagan aka “Lord of the Strings” who performs with eclectic instruments and a dry wit sharpened on the international touring circuit, not least with Billy Connolly, The Original Buena Vista Social Club, Michael Crawford and Shirley Bassey.

Gypsy Fire duo, Matthew Fagan and amazing Czech violinist Romana Geermans (Prague) opens the evening with a captivating show of European Gypsy, Gypsy Jazz, Tango, Bluegrass and original Celtic and Flamenco Music performing their take on rock and pop masters from Led Zeppelin to The Beatles and more.

The 50th anniversary tour, Street of Dreams, arrives to the Torquay Bowls Club’s Bistro on the Green on May 26 with tickets $20-$25.
