WINTER in Geelong is about to get slightly warmer as Geelong Illustrators launch its Keepin’ it Cosy exhibition on August 2.

The exhibition is all about celebrating things that are warm, soft and comforting, with all artwork surrounding the theme.

Geelong Illustrators volunteer manager Clare Holder said the idea for the exhibition came from the group itself.

“The volunteers in the studio actually had a bit of a brainstorm of what exhibition to put together; it was a combined effort.”

Keepin’ it Cosy is also the first time the group’s volunteers have helped to curate an exhibition.

“In the past, I’ve done the majority of the stuff, organising and curating and planning.

“I’ve put it in the hand of a couple of volunteers at the studio, to give them a bit more of an opportunity to organise and plan things.”

Curators for the exhibition will include Peapod Studios’ Aiden, Dejah from Designed by Dee Dee and Lyd from Semjay Art.

Pieces within the exhibition will be made up from a range of mediums including, digital, acrylic, watercolour and more.

Ms Holder said she is hoping people who head along can just enjoy the art itself because as artists, that’s what makes them feel good.

“You can look at the emotion, especially when it’s something cosy and comforting. Hopefully it inspires some sort of cosy emotion in them.”

Keepin’ it Cosy will run until September 20 at 105 Moorabool Street, Geelong.
