New medical centre’s grand opening
TORQUAY’S newest medical centre is now taking appointments for high-quality care and treatment close to home.
Orbit Medical has opened its brand-new Geelong Road facility for bookings that start from January 10.
The Torquay centre includes two buildings, one which houses Orbit’s general practice and specialists with a treatment room that opens next week, and a second facility that will host allied health services including from radiologists, physiologists, dentists, dieticians, podiatrists and pharmacists.
The second building is due to open next year at a date yet to be confirmed, once the centre builds a steady client base in the Torquay community.
Orbit is locally owned and operated by principal doctors, including specialist general practitioner Dr Nahid Asim.
Dr Asim has more than 20 years’ experience as a GP specialising in chronic disease management and nutrition, and she has expertise treating all patients from men, women and children.
The new general practice is also set to feature specialised skin cancer services, providing Torquay residents with a local clinic to check worrisome dark spots and receive initial treatment.
Orbit also expects to provide local patients with same-day appointments at its new practice, saving patients from wait times and travel to other specialists out of town.
It services beyond the comprehensive general practice will include immunisation, telehealth, mental health services and chronic disease management including for asthma and cancer.
Orbit Medical Torquay is now taking appointments for the practice’s official opening on Monday, January 10, online or by phone.
