Night of laughs for Torquay SLSC life members

February 9, 2018 BY

Torquay Surf Life Saving Club’s life members enjoyed sharing memories of the past when they gathered for a night of great food, company and entertainment. Director of life saving Scott Tannahill said the club dinner held on January 27 was a massive success, with tickets selling out within the first three days. “We had a fantastic reception; we put notice out a month before the night and the tickets all sold. We had 110 people come along and past Australian Olympian Leon Wiegard as our guest speaker,” Mr Tannahill said. “Leon was brilliant and he told a few stories to the members. The dinner used to be a tradition for the club and hasn’t run for a few years, but it was such a success that we’ll be doing another one in a few months.” Mr Tannahil said they played videos of the old clubhouse and the club’s history, while raising money for members competing in the coming Australian Titles in Perth. “It was a great fundraising evening bringing a cross section of people together, from older life members to our newest life members and Nipper parents.”
