Otways are “bellissima” for Italian park visitors
ITALIAN and dialect speaking visitors have been especially encouraged to visit the Great Otways National Park this Easter, as one of its seasonal rangers is multilingual.
Silvana Iannello said domestic and international Italian-speaking visitors were loving being able to ask questions in their own languages.
“They have been enjoying gaining ‘insider’ walking tips and learning more about the many animals and plants, which can be experienced in this special park.
“There are so many great walks and experiences to be had in the Otway National Park. Blanket Bay is perfect for families, as activities include camping, swimming or exploring rock pools.
“Maits Rest is a wonderful place to refresh yourself, with lush fern gullies and cool watercourses trickling through.”
She said Italian visitors had enjoyed Apollo Bay, Shelley beach and Johanna.
“Walks in the Great Otway National Park are great places to see plants and animals.
“I suggest visitors look out for the endemic black snail only found in the Otways region. At first visitors say ‘yuk’ or ‘it’s only a snail!’ but once they learn more about it, they get really interested.
“The little guy is carnivorous, and very important in the ecosystem.
