Fifteen years after releasing his debut album, Perry Chapman, better known as Pez, is going on a national anniversary tour.

His debut album, A mind of My Own, was released in 2008 and quickly shot up the charts.

“The Festival Song” launched him into the spotlight and reached number seven on Triple J’s hottest 100.

Pez said the quick rise to success was surreal and something he wasn’t prepared for.

“I think now with age and perspective and all those things, you kind of process things a lot better and take it all in.

“It did feel like a little bit of a blur for a few years there, even though it was an amazing experience which I’m super grateful as well, it was just a lot to take in.

He stepped away from the music world after feeling like he wasn’t enjoying it as much any more.

Pez said this tour and will be like coming full circle on his career.

“It feels like the right time to get back out there and connect with people again.”

“It feels nice to reflect on it and after reaching out to fans and talking to them, with little songs on there that meant something to someone back then, it’s pretty cool to just revisit that and play homage to it.

” Eight years after his debut album Pez returned in 2016 with Don’t Look Down, an album he said was hard to write.

During his music career he was fortunate enough to work with Paul Kelly, something he describes as a career highlight after growing up listening to his music.

The rapper has taken the stage alongside some big names including Vanilla Ice when they performed in Australia.

Audiences can look forward to lots of energy at his coming shows as he plays through his old music, adding some to songs into the mix as well.

On his Australian tour, Pez will perform across 12 different venues, including in Geelong at Lamby’s Tavern on June 14.
