Pitch in for Pink Stumps Day

February 12, 2016 BY

THE Torquay Cricket Club will trade in their traditional whites for something a little brighter on Pink Stumps Day on Saturday February 20.

The event will raise money for breast cancer charity, the McGrath Foundation, and feature Nicky Buckley as MC, and Geelong breast care nurse Jacinta Bryan and breast cancer survivor Wendy Groteas as guest speakers.

Guests at the event will also enjoy afternoon tea with refreshments including pink champagne to match the theme of the day.

Ms Bryan is one of two breast care nurses at University Hospital Geelong and the Andrew Love Cancer Centre in Geelong and she said after being so close to families enduring a breast cancer experience, she was thrilled to have the chance to support the foundation. “The McGrath Foundation actually funds breast cancer nurses in the community, so it’s a chance to support the organisation that supports me personally and the Geelong and wider community in such a fantastic way.

Ms Groteas is one of Ms Bryan’s former patients, and the two are looking forward to speaking on their experiences on the day.

Ms Buckley said after losing her mother to ovarian cancer, she is pleased to support a foundation that assists families dealing with the cruel circumstances of a cancer battle.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend Pink Stumps Day at the Torquay Cricket Club rooms at Spring Creek Reserve on February 20 from 1.45pm to approximately 4pm.

Entrance is by donation. RSVP to [email protected] by Saturday February 13.
