Postcard competition returns
Local artists are encouraged to get creative as the Surf Coast Arts Postcard competition launches for its third year.
The annual competition aims to showcase the Surf Coast Shire region, with the entries to be displayed to visitors at the Anglesea Arts Space.
Surf Coast Arts Inc president Martine Oderio said artist entries grow each year in the competition and included a record of 100 entrants last year.
“The 2024 Postcard Exhibition is an exciting opportunity for artists to show off their mini masterpieces in a prime location during the busy Christmas and New Years period.”
“We are always impressed by the calibre of entries and can’t wait to see creativity that emerges this year.
“Everyone is eligible to enter, from children to budding amateur artists, professionals and retirees.”
Lat year’s competition drew in 100 entrants, a record number, with funds raised from the Torquay Cowrie Market helping support the event.
“Surf Coast Arts Inc has been supporting and developing arts and culture for 29 years and this is one of the biggest event on our calendar,” Ms Oderio said.
Artists are invited to enter up to four designs, with five winners having their works printed as postcards and receiving a $100 cash prize.
Postcard artworks can be created in any medium including glass, oil, textiles, metal, timer and ceramics.
All artworks must measure 12x17cm.
Entries for the competition will close on December 6 with the exhibition to take place from December 12 until January 5. Artists can also choose to sell their works.
