School to be known as Torquay Coast PS
ONE of the new schools coming soon to Torquay has chosen its name.
Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney last week announced the primary school under construction in Torquay North will be officially known as Torquay Coast Primary School.
The school is being built to accommodate up to 400 pupils, and was designed with the local community in mind, creating a gathering place for local families and residents to enjoy community, arts, sports and recreation programs.
The name was selected after wide community consultation led by the new school’s principal, Darren Roskosch.
The school’s new logo was designed in consultation with graphic design students from nearby Surf Coast Secondary College.
“The naming of the school heralds a new era for education in the Surf Coast region as more students will be able to access a high quality local education with first-rate facilities,” Ms Tierney said.
“We are delivering on our promises and building 56 new schools and completing more than 1,000 school upgrades across Victoria.”
