SCOUT For Vintage’s newest venture ‘White Label’ introduces 100 per cent sustainable denim to the local market, using vintage jeans to create reimagined modern styles for any customer no matter their size or shape.

Officially launched on Easter Saturday to a packed crowd at Scout For Vintage’s Torquay base, local founder Jodie Hayes said she was proud to branch out and continue to bring new and unique ways of designing personalised vintage for each consumer.

“All the designs coming from White Label are my original designs and are created from the vintage jeans at Scout for Vintage…. we wanted to take the sustainability factor of the business that little bit further,” Ms Hayes said.

“It’s new styles and modern designs and shapes that are reworked into new pieces… Scout for Vintage is still everything in terms of vintage jeans and denim, and White Label is taking those jeans and making them into something original.

“With vintage, everything is one of one, but with White Label, you can now order that skirt or those jeans in your size rather than just accepting that it won’t fit.

“Whatever jeans have been left over in the past, including items like larger men’s sized Wrangler and Levi jeans, are then transformed into exciting new pieces.”

Ideas about how to make the grooviest jeans are always brewing for Ms Hayes.

For the launch night, Ms Hayes released three new designs including a maxi shirt, a unisex jean called the ‘Baggy Smalls’ and a high-rise jean which is more fitted but still has a relaxed leg.

Limited numbers were available to purchase on the night, while other locals took a chance to get straight into preordering their specific sizes.

The wait for the tailored jean service is around four weeks.

“It’s great that preordering makes it even more streamlined for us and that there is less waste… you can get it in your exact measurements and not have to settle for a standardised size,” Ms Hayes said.

“Essentially, the customer comes in, I take their waist and hip measurements and then make them in either the blue or black washed colours.

“The jeans tend to mostly come from America and the fabric comes from vintage Wrangler, Levi and Lee… you know the jeans are coming from a genuine place and I only pick certain ones because of their quality and potential.”

The vintage pieces are made from premium products like Levi, Lee and Wrangler denim.

Ms Hayes said the preordered wait time is around four weeks due to the popularity of Scout For Vintage’s products.

“I think locals know that it’s worth the wait and that it’s all being done by someone that really knows vintage and understands the products,” Ms Hayes said.

“It’s exciting to finally release it, it’s always been in my mind and something that I’ve wanted to get into for a long time… now just felt like the right time.”
