Searching The Bellarine for treasure

January 8, 2018 BY

Treasure hunters are searching Bellarine businesses in the third annual glass art Treasure Hunt, running until February 17 as part of this year’s Festival of Glass in Drysdale.

A record 32 businesses in Curlewis, Drysdale, Clifton Springs and Portarlington are in the Treasure Hunt, identified by a Treasure Hunt poster in their window.

Each participating business is displaying a piece of glass art commissioned from a local artist.

Each glass art work displayed will be available as a prize to be won in a draw at the Festival of Glass Expo on February 18 at Drysdale’s Christian College.

Each business is also discreetly displaying a glass “Tiny Treasure” for treasure hunters to search for. When a treasure hunter finds a Tiny Treasure, the business stamps their entry form.

For every entry form stamped by 10 businesses, the participant can enter the Treasure Hunt draw.

Festival of Glass organiser Diane Schofield believes everyone participating in the Treasure Hunt is a winner.

“Businesses can increase their customer base, glass artists can increase their public profile and treasure hunters can win beautiful glass art.

“We’re very grateful to our major sponsors The Bungalow, Leura Park Estate and Parkers Steakhouse.

“We also want to thank the remaining 29 businesses for their support, especially Chris Walsh’s Pharmacy, Pier View Lolly Shop, Joshae Hair and Beauty, Miss Lillypilly and Surf Junction.”

The 2018 Festival of Glass also includes an exhibition of glass art currently on display at Drysdale’s The Bungalow restaurant, a Venetian glass master blowing and sculpting class at Leura Park Estate on February 17, a huge expo featuring 40 exhibitors and the Glass Art Awards ceremony at Drysdale’s Christian College on February 18, with classes in various glass art techniques too.
