Nine years ago, sisters and business partners Gail Asbell and Charelle Cuolahan opened their first yoga studio and now run more than 110 classes a week.

With locations in Geelong and Torquay, Upstate Yoga has a range of yoga classes to strengthen the body and balance the mind, winning the Geelong Business Excellence for three years in a row from 2014.

Classes include Yin Yoga, Vinyasa, Bikram and sculpt Yoga, hot cardio pilates, power pilates and reformer pilates.

In August, the duo launched Geelong’s largest pilates reformer studio with 18 reformer beds and Gail said the growth and success of the business reflects an unwavering passion for yoga and wellbeing.

“We are committed to continuous improvement, constantly challenging ourselves to deliver the best experience possible,” Gail said.

“Upstate Yoga is all about creating a positive state of mind through yoga, connection and positivity. It’s more than just a yoga class; it’s creating a lifestyle you love.

“We are here to laugh, enjoy and not take ourselves too seriously.”

The sisters said they felt incredibly grateful their business is also their passion and to be able to share it with an amazing community of teachers and yogis.

“It’s extremely rewarding and we’re looking forward to offering people more ways to sweat, stretch and have fun.”
