Specialty smoked fish on the Bellarine
The Bellarine Smoked Fish Company is a family business venture established by Jarron Mason and Pamela Lobo in January 2015.
Smoking fish is a Jarron’s family’s passion and can be traced back to his grandfather’s garden shed where the aroma of smoked fish often mixed with the scent of home brew.
That same traditional fish-smoking technique is now used to service many customers at various farmers’ markets across Victoria.
Locally, The Bellarine Smoked Fish Company has recruited GB Foods to distribute to wholesale customers within the Geelong and the Surf Coast catchment area. Bellarine After one year of operation, The Bellarine Smoked Fish Company entered their range of products in the 2016 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show (Aquaculture division), where many smokehouses from several states vie for recognition from their peers.
Their results included: Gold medal for Smoked Salmon Pate and first in their category, Silver Medal for their Smoked Rainbow Trout and first in their category, Silver Medal for their Smoked Tasmanian Salmon and second in their category, Bronze Medal for their Ocean Trout and third in their category Their premium New Zealand King Salmon product, which is a customer favourite at markets, could not be judged as it is not Australian produce.
All products are hot-smoked, meaning they are cooked while in the smoking process.
This results in a delicious ready-to-eat product that is a great addition to pastas, risottos, salads, platters and many other dishes.
The Bellarine Smoked Fish Company’s mission is to become synonymous with Geelong and the Surf Coast.
