Stellar second Celtic line-up announced

Claymore, a Celtic multi instrumental powerhouse with their own troupe of Highland dancers, have been announced for this year’s 2018 National Celtic Festival line-up taking place in Portarlington June 8-11.

THE NATIONAL Celtic Festival is edging closer with another wave of world-class performers locked in during the second round line-up announcement.

The June 8-11 festival has unveiled an impressive line-up of local and global performers including legends of the Irish music scene Altan, who will perform as part of their 30th anniversary tour, Scottish stars Paul McKenna Band, and local Irish/Australian troubadours Hat Fitz and Cara.

Attracting over 15,000 punters every year, the National Celtic Festival transforms Portarlington’s foreshore and surrounding haunts into a bustling winter-wonderland of talented musicians and performers, presenting concerts across 14 stages.

Revellers can immerse themselves in showcases including dance, theatre, literature readings, masterclasses and more.

Just announced Celtic acts including the Adelaide Scottish Fiddle Club, South Australia’s Catherine Fraser Trio and vibrant string three-piece Telenn Tri.

Melbourne and Geelong outfit AMBER will bring a fresh approach to folk music, multi-instrumental powerhouse Claymore will bring energy and Highland Dancers, and New South Wales’ Señor Cabrales will take you to Scotland via Spain with their multicultural set.

Flying the international flag is Ireland’s Brid Harper and Dermot Byrne and Scottish-born, Melbourne-based storyteller Fiona Ross.

Visitors will be treated to The Folk Market, bursting with fine food and fresh produce from a wide range of food trucks, along with delicious local wines, craft brews and spirits from Victoria’s bespoke distilleries; adjacent to the festival and free to the public non-ticket holders can get amongst it too.
