SUMMER SURF SHINDIG AT TORQUAY BOWLS
The inaugural Summer Surf Shindig will be held at Torquay Bowls Club on Sunday December 16 between
3-6pm, featuring two local surf inspired bands, as well as some retro surf themed surprises.
The Quick Sixes play a mix of ‘50s/60s toe tapping surf tinged blues and rock ‘n’ roll, including both their own originals and some classic surf instrumentals.
They’ve been performing at venues across Surf Coast and Bellarine this year and punters have described them as “like a cross between Dick Dale, The B-52’s and Hoodoo Gurus’’.
Moonah play a mix of raw and earthy psychedelic folk, having recorded several CDs and performed at countless gigs and
festivals since their emergence in the south west Victoria Surf Coast arts scene in the mid ‘90s.
Crowds are drawn to their strange and powerfully hypnotic rhythms and eclectic instrumentation, including surf guitars, accordion and didgeridoo.
In conjunction with the bands, retro surf films will also be screening as well as a retro surfboard display and very special guest MC appearance by local burlesque pin-up fashionista and latex designer Miss Eliza.
Tickets are $15 at the club or online at oztix.com.au.
