When was the last time you had your health checked?

Regular health checks are of great benefit. They can identify early warning disease which is of upmost importance

About 32 per cent of Australia’s total burden of disease can be attributed to modifiable risk factors. Early detection could prevent the disease, increase the treatment success or reduce its impact. “Most only see the doctor when they are unwell, they don’t have time to see us at other times,” Dr Caroline Taylor-Walker said. “However, we would love to see patients when they are actually well. Prevention is much better than cure.”

This month, Surf Coast Home Doctor is offering bulk billed health checks to the community as they are strong believers in keeping our community healthy. “We are actually lucky that many chronic disease such as heart disease, diabetes, COPD and some cancers can be picked up early, which is why such health checks are essential,” Dr Natasha Nogueira said.

The purpose of the health checks are to:

  • Check for existing or emerging medical problems
  • Assess risks of future medical issues
  • Educate and confirm a healthy lifestyle, and
  • Discuss screening tests.

During each check, Dr Caroline Taylor-Walker or Dr Natasha Nogueira will talk to you about your medical history, your family’s history and your lifestyle. They will also discuss your mental health and screening tests open to you. Specific questions will be asked about your body systems and they may examine you. If they feel you are high risk of disease or if any concerns are picked up, they may request some investigations.

Surf Coast Home Doctor love our community and wish to keep them as healthy as possible. They are offering the health checks to their normal catchment area and to any age or sex. To book please phone the service on 0478 957 890 or book online at surfcoasthomedoctor.com.au. Each bulk billed appointment will only be for the health check.
