Taste of Noosa

It was while holidaying in Noosa that the Gilbert family got their first taste of Betty’s Burgers on a sunshine-filled day on Hastings Street.

There was something about the relaxed coastal vibe and the simple but inclusive menu that sparked something in Josh and his father Simon.

They became self-confessed “mega fans” of the popular burger shack and found themselves picturing a Betty’s Burgers being a fitting addition to their hometown of Torquay.

A chance meeting with a member of the Betty’s operations team soon put that dream into motion.

Fast forward to April 2022 and they have just proudly thrown open the doors to their very own Betty’s Burgers on Bristol Road.

“We are so proud of the entire team getting this restaurant opened and looking so beautiful for our guests, just in time for the school holidays and Easter,” Josh says.

“We are excited to offer a new dining experience to the community and we hope Torquay is ready for a little taste of Noosa.

“Betty’s is a great fit for Torquay, we offer a quality casual dining experience with a strong vibe of Aussie beach culture.”

Betty’s Burgers first opened its doors in Noosa in 2014 and has become much-loved for its range of burgers, including vegan options, sides such as fries and onion rings, salads, icecreams and a nippers’ menu.

Josh says the Betty’s Classic burger is a perennial menu favourite – consisting of Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and Betty’s special sauce.

“The Betty’s Classic is most guests’ go-to but I am a Noosa Classic Surf man – I like a luxe twist of adding the prawns,” he says.

In fact, there are a range of add-ons customers can choose from to personalise their burger such as a ‘schroom’ pattie, smashed avo, egg or pickles, gluten free bun and more.

Coastal energy is at the heart of the design of each restaurant, with the aim of creating that satisfying sense you are on holidays seven days a week.

Josh says a great deal of effort has gone into getting the ambience of the Torquay “shack” just right, ensuring guests enjoy dining with them whether it’s for a date night, family celebration or a simple catch-up with a bestie.

“The Betty’s experience includes a simplistic but inclusive menu that allows all of our guests to feel they have the option of choice, no matter what their personal dining preferences are,” he says.

“The team at Betty’s gives great attention to our sourcing of the freshest, local products available and every single burger is made to order, no short cuts.”

He says the aim is to ensure every experience with Betty’s is a memorable one.

The Torquay restaurant has about 30 team members and is still hiring.

Josh says they are grateful and heartened by how quickly Betty’s has been embraced locally – with a hectic first day and a few famous faces dropping in to say hello and check out the venue.

“We had a feeling we would be busy based on the amount of people stopping by while we were building but on our first day we were delighted to see the local turn out,” Josh says.

“We even had Mick Fanning drop by which was epic.”

Josh, who lives in Torquay with fiancée Haylea, is a sports lover who previously worked for the Geelong Football Club.

He says it is important to him that Betty’s contributes to the local community.

“Water safety is incredibly important to Betty’s Burgers which sponsors numerous lifesaving clubs across Australia,” he explains.

“Community involvement is going to be a big part of Betty’s Burgers Torquay.”

For anyone yet to experience Betty’s Burgers, Josh encourages them call past and try it for themselves.

“Come down and have a try, I really know you will love it,” he says.

“Betty’s hasn’t become popular without being able to make amazing made-to-order, juicy burgers.”

Betty’s Burgers Torquay is at 41 Bristol Road and opens Sunday to Thursday 11am to 9pm and Friday and Saturday 11am to 10pm.
